Hands on: Nokia N1 tablet

The 6.9mm thin chassis is very light at 318 grams, and the body is sized correctly in that it can be comfortably held in one hand. The edges are smooth and rounded, with the three controls nestled around the top right-hand corner. Those who fumble around with Micro USB connectors — and that’s most of us — will like the reversible Type-C USB connection on the bottom.
It all feels very expensive, and that continues when you fire up that display. The 2,048 x 1,536 pixel resolution makes it as sharp as an iPad, and the IPS panel made viewing possible from most angles. We couldn’t see it used outside, so weren’t able to judge its performance in sunlight, but in theory that’s another bonus of the zero-air gap technology.

Why you should absolutely consider Microsoft’s new Lumias over any cheap Android phone

These products alone would significantly drive down the cost of your Lumia purchase, and these devices are already very cheap, with prices starting at €139 for the 5-inch model. Sure, you might end up paying for Office 365 and other Microsoft products in the future, after the first year, but that doesn’t mean this isn’t a good deal.
Not to mention that these Lumias will also get upgraded to Windows 10 once the mobile OS update is out.

Below you’re going to find a few more hands-on images of the Lumia 640 and Lumia 640 XL, which paint a familiar picture. We’re looking at Microsoft devices that look very familiar, complete with the same wild range of color choices. But they’re definitely exciting when it comes to their software bundles.

Samsung is starting from scratch.

Samsung started designing the Galaxy S 6 from the ground up about a year ago under a program it called Project Zero. Whereas recent Galaxy models were designed with the previous model in mind, the Galaxy S 6 is entirely new. Samsung even abandoned some of its earlier principles to highlight the design of the Galaxy S 6. It's not waterproof. You can't swap out the battery. And there's no slot to insert extra memory.

Both models do all the same stuff, except the Galaxy S 6 edge has a few extras. It lets you swipe over from the curved portion of the screen to view a list of your favorite contacts and get alerts when you have a missed call or text from one of them. Other than that, Samsung says the curved screen doesn't serve any function other than to look good. (It will also be more expensive, but Samsung has not said how much either phone will cost.)
